Halloween Party

We had a great time at the Gohring House.

There was the good witch Daphne Sidener... Her mom and dad brought her by.

We were also blessed with the presence of The Greek Goddess Raelee, and the famous Ballerina Kaylin.

Hannah B., came by just off of a three month engagement with Ringling Bros. Barnum & Bailey Circus

Evan, Drew and Lindsay M. came dressed as an old man, young boy, and kitty cat, respectively.

Mallory decided she was a ladybug, with attitude.

Oh, and the (alleged) grown-ups joined in the fun too.

Here is Steve showing his best "Crackuh" lips. )See earlier blog here.

More pictures like this can also be found on Cliff's blog here.

Cliff and Teresa refused to wear a costume.

Trish (the "Newsie") chillin' with Kaylin.

Abby (Bobby-soxer) and Teresa (bubba-teeth)

Abby makes a a point.

Brittney entertains John (and everyone else, as usual).

There are more pictures, and I will try to get them up here later. Hope everyone had a safe and happy day!

Who's that CELEB?

You guessed it! It's Staci. Here you can see her famous face on a toy box that literally sells all over the USA and France.

Here she is this week at Collins on Trick or Treat night. She is the Cow-Girl.

2sday night

We had another great night at the Gohring household this last Tuesday. The Choins' family came and John made a Pampered Chef meal for us that he needed to 'try out' here is a picture of some of the leftovers.

You're just going to have to trust me, it was delicious. It was a chicken and bean burrito, which we ate with tacos and for dessert, Jan's soon to be famous apple enchiladas. Yummy!

After dinner the Hoods and the Whites came over to visit, after they had been to a shindig at the Pastor and Mrs. Emeritus's (Emeriti?) house.

We decided to stack up families and take pictures.

Chemo Day

Today was Chemo day for the Momma, and she was feeling well when I took these pictures as she was getting her treatment, but she faded fast after she got home. More nausea and just general yucky feelings tonight, and she has little appetite and no energy.
Please pray for her as she wants to feel better, but it is a big drain on her right now. Thank you to all of you who have been praying, and are still praying. Her Doctors have all been wonderful Christian people who have shared with us and prayed with us, and that has made a lot of this more bearable. In fact, today, Dr. Okani (our Oncologist) was joking with us when we mentioned that after chemo treatment that Jan leans a little bit to one side as she walks for a day or so. He said remember Proverbs 3:5-6 says "Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."
So pray that Jan will LEAN NOT, and also that the nausea will pass soon.

Tuesday Night Redux

It was a low-key affair this last Tuesday night. B. Hood was otherwise disposed, Crackuh couldn't make it, and Upward evaluations kept others away. But, Jan, Cliff, Teresa, Laura, Mallory and I got together for Mexican Stackup. I've got only one picture from the night's activities, and I present it now.

I was going to say something smart-alecky like "There's no way that you can convince me that Jeff had anything to do with something this cute." or something like that, but then, as I was looking through my picture file to find this one to post, I ran across this one.

So I guess that it is possible for Beauty to overpower the Beast....

Finally, another shot from the past for those who still do not believe that shaggy hair is a cyclical event. Allow me to give you my high school sophomore (or junior, I forget) year school photo.

momma g back at work!!!???!!!

It's true...I started back to work today. In fact I'm at work right now. (trying to see if I will get fired for blogging on the job ). I don't have a regular schedule yet and have been given a "Special Assignment" for three days. Basically that means I sit in my office with a student who is currently serving in ISS and I do nothing while said students does paperwork. Well, at least I'm here.

Many of you have asked about my treatment and side effects...........This week I do not have treatment so I expect to feel 'good' most of the week. I still have some annoying side effects that keep me running down the hall to the restroom fairly often. I'm tired but I have more energy this week than the week of a treatment. Other side effects have included muscle spasms with some temporary paralysis in my left arm and hand... (that tends to go away within a few minutes.) Also some muscle twitching on my lip, left eye, and both arms and legs, large muscle spasms in my calves that cause me to walk off balance just a little. Most of these have worn off this week. I'm wondering if I will have them all again next week as I go back for another treatment. I do have some new meds to try next week for nausea and one pill that promises to keep me awake ALL day. Susan Claybrook gave me some ginger candy that works great for instant nausea relief.

Thanks to all of you for your prayers and encouragement. It's a joy to have such a large, loving Christian family to support me during this time.

Baylor - Nebraska Game

There was a huge crowd, since it seems like this is the first time that Baylor has been 4-1 since Moses was floating in the river in a basket.

Staci and Abby were there with the rest of the Baylor Line to cheer on their team.

Things did not look good for the Bears. (The girls were scared)

Try as hard as she might, Staci was not able to scare the Cornhuskers off of the field.

In the end, Nebraska handed Baylor it's second loss (both in conference), winning 23-14.

Another Blog

Sorry that it has been a while since the last blog, but we have been busy, and I have not had or made the time to post anything. And sometimes there just isn't anything worth saying.

Jan and Staci went to New Braunfels last weekend and visited Dana and Benny. These pictures were taken on that trip.

Here are our good friends Dana and Benny.
Other than her insistence that she is funnier than me, they are good folks.

And, of course, Jan and Staci. (Two of the most beautiful women in the world.)

Staci dancing (you can tell she is dancing, because all Gohring's have to look at their feet while they dance.)

Two cuties.

Staci and Kalei playing.

Family Dinner

Take a look at the CUTIES that came to family night. I'm sure by the pictures you will be able to see who stole the show Tuesday night. A big shout out to Brit and Crackuh for bringing on the Bush's Best.

Hannah and her mom made the SPOOKY cookies and a delightful choc bundt cake. A good time was had by all.

Notice the picture of the doll house... After everyone left.... Laura put all the Gohring 'little' people into their place for their very own Family night. I think she enjoyed playing with the doll house a little too much...or maybe she was just getting ready for when Mallory is old enough to join the fun.

The pictures are in random order because I have not figured out just how to make them go where I want them. Oh well....enjoy. ( not in any specific order are Staci, Hannah Bowden, Mallory Cockerham, Ian Bracken.

From My Aunt in Arizona

I promised my Aunt Susie from Mesa that I would post some pictures and comments that she had without any editing whatsoever on my part. So here we have them....

The following pictures are from the mother of the midget pirate and the aunt of your friend Steve. They may help explain why is the WAY he is today!!

In this one he was getting ready for the try outs for YOYO boy in the Waco Traveling Circus. Unfortunately he was still too young too cross the street alone.

He was very disappointed for quite awhile after coming in 233 in the Elvis Look Alike Contest. A few months of therapy seemed to help some.

We are pretty sure the hair probelm was caused from so many times he was forced to be dried in the dryer by his 2 older brothers.

She had no comments for the last one, probably because that is her daughter, also known as The Midget Pirate Cousin, and her clothes look like they were made out of a tablecloth or a bunch of bandanas sewed together. (Pretty sure those are her shoes by the back door in pic #2.)

I personally don't recall running around with my chest exposed that much, but the pictures tell the whole story. I also would have said I was going more for a Neil Diamond look in picture #2. Check out those rockin' shoes!!!

These pictures are expecially neat for me because they were all taken in the den of the house that we live in now, and I was skinny, who knew?
